Workshop 2026

The annual workshop of the study group “viral vectors for gene therapy and vaccination” of the Society of Virology (GFV) will be held in Innsbruck, Austria, on November 25-27, 2026. The meeting aims to stimulate the exchange between young scientists and renowned experts covering the whole spectrum from basic research to clinical application and regulatory perspectives. In particular, viral vector approaches used for vaccination against cancer and infectious diseases, virotherapy and gene therapy will be discussed.

We are pleased to announce our keynote speakers:

  • Florian Krammer, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, NY/Ignaz Semmelweis Institute, Vienna
  • Asisa Volz, TiHo Hannover
  • Patrik Erlman, Boehringer Ingelheim

The workshop will take place at the Grillhof, beautifully situated above the village of Igls. Surrounded by forests and the impressive Tyrolean mountain landscape, the location offers panoramic views and direct access to scenic walking trails. The venue is easily accessible from Innsbruck city center with convenient public transport connections. All meals and accommodation are included with registration.
